KNOXVILLE, Tenn.- Christopher A. Mallett, 31, of Oak Ridge, Tenn., was sentenced on October 17, 2011, by U.S. District Court Judge Thomas A. Varlan, to 41 months in federal prison for his role in a conspiracy to manufacture counterfeit U.S. currency. Mallett had previously entered a guilty plea to the counterfeiting charges. As set forth in the plea agreement, between August 1, 2010, and December 27, 2010, Mallett and a co-defendant used all-in-one inkjet printers and other materials to manufacture counterfeit $20 and $100 bills. The sentence of 41 months imposed in this case represented the top of the Sentencing Guidelines range.

The investigation into Mallett’s conduct was led by the U.S. Secret Service, with valuable assistance provided by the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office.
